# TOGETHER on the 8th of April- International Roma Day

On the 8th of April we celebrate #together the International Roma Day. It was about us, members of the Roma community from everywhere, friends, family, brothers and sisters, about diversity, inclusion, acceptance and closeness.

But, we must admit that ... we have started celebrating a bit earlier.

A good part of March we visited our partner schools from the County of Ilfov: Școala Gimnazială Nr. 1, Pantelimon, Școala Gimnazială nr. 4, Buftea, Școala Gimnazială Nr. 1 Tunari, Școala Gimnazială Nr. 3 Sintești – Vidra și Liceul Tehnologic „Cezar Nicolau”, where we had the change to talk and laugh along with the students but also .... to personalize a looot of t-shirts.

Every student from our five school partners has received a white t-shirt that they had the change to personalize it after their personality. From their hands came out messages dedicated to their friends or their closest to them from the Roma community, but also hearts, princess tiaras, names (or numbers) of their favorite football players or their most beloved sweets. The t-shirts customized by the children could not remain unseen, so we decided to wear them.

We've meet up with almost all 150 students from our partner schools in King Mihai I (Herestrău) to celebrate the 8th of April. We got to know each other, to discuss about the special meaning that the date carries and we wrote beautiful stories that only #together could have done.

The main objective of the event was to increase the number of that admit their ethnicity in order to increase the level of acceptance, trust and self-esteem of the Roma, but also to decrease the level of discriminatory attitudes towards this minority. Moreover, it aims to create a framework in which each student can make their voice heard, in order to promote diversity.

Below are some photos from the event in which the children were the ones who taught us the most important lessons. We hope that the children were an example and to take the International Roma Day as an opportunity to put aside prejudices and learn to work, live, dream, cry and laugh… #together.
