Identifying communities

In the first 2 months of the project, the 12 communities were selected in which the community development process will take place. The selection was made on the basis of a grid that includes criterias such as:

  • The community is rural;
  • The community is interethnic (the presence of several ethnic groups);
  • There is a group of Roma;
  • Lack of a similar ongoing project.

The selection was made by the selection committee, consisting of representatives of the 3 partner organizations.

UPDATE:

The needs analysis of the of the 12 communities involved in the project was completed on January 12th.

The data were collected through a questionnaire filled in by community members and included indicators on education, health, infrastructure, housing, employment, culture and discrimination.

Following the analysis, the members of the initiative groups prioritized the needs of the communities.

Although the needs of each community are distinct, there are common areas on which members from several communities are calling for improvement.
